The Center for Children & Families is seeking a Family Advocate to serve children and families in Union Parish, Louisiana. The Family Advocate supports the Brokers of Hope program by coordinating services and community resources for children and families served, conducting telephone and personal intake interviews, supporting program staff, and assisting the Team Lead. This position also interfaces in community engagement through public speaking, attending events, and hosting trainings. The Family Advocate is hired by and reports to the Team Lead.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a social service-related field (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent communication skills, including collaboration, negotiation, and persuasion
- Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities; maintain and organizational skills; prioritize multiple tasks and remain flexible in a dynamic work environment; and create new partnerships in the community
- Knowledge and understanding of available community resources; issues and dynamics within families in crisis; and word processing programs, email, and the internet
Duties & ResponsibilitiesClient Advocacy- Coordinate services for clients, including housing, health, psychotherapy, education, and life skills
- Regularly meet with clients and/or their families at home, school, or in the community
- Provide training to clients and community partners regarding the program and relevant topics
- Maintain awareness and sensitivity to service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and integrate this into client care
Community Partnerships- Develop and foster partnerships with key stakeholders and community resources for clients' best interests
- Facilitate group interactions with clients and community partners
- Work collaboratively with therapists, program staff, schools, churches, law enforcement, and community partners
- Maintain communication with community partners, agencies, and resource providers
- Help maintain and update a community resource manual to serve as a listing for program staff
Intake & Client Records- Receive necessary information regarding referral of new clients to the program
- Initiate first contact with families and conduct in-home assessment interviews
- Organize and maintain client records via electronic health record system
- Gather and report data for outcomes reporting and program evaluation
- Maintain contact with entire caseload, per program requirements
- Participate in monthly peer file review
Collaboration, Supervision, and Administration- Communicate regularly with Team Lead regarding updates and changes in client progress
- Participate in weekly supervision
- Complete time cards weekly
- Complete all necessary training
- Work community events for Public Relations (may require some weekends or evenings)
- Demonstrate acceptable level of commitment to the core values and mission statement of Brokers of Hope and The Center for Children and Families

Pay Philosophy
The Center for Children and Families' pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity, along with budgetary considerations for effective stewardship. Pay will be assigned based on relevant experience at a range of $34,000-$38,000. We reserve the right to pay an equitable rate that we believe is within our salary structure or that may fit a candidate's qualifications or experience for the job. A wage range posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage range for a job offer.
